Artist Highlights: Anna Ristvey

"Graphic artist Anna Ristvey was first introduced to art through tearing letters out of magazines as a child. She loved to find new fonts and make creepy ransom-letter-styled notes. Later on, she started making hand-cut collages and became interested in typography and magazine layouts. This is what led to her pursue her education in Graphic design from the University of Northern Colorado. Her design and digital media classes taught her to diversify the form of design. Her varied interests have given her an open-minded, thoughtful, and hands-on approach to graphic design. Anna graduated in 2019 and is looking forward to designing more in the future.

Making art through the lens of graphic design has heavily influenced not only her artistic style but also her whole process of art-making. The underlying structure of her art is systematic. However, she likes to use an expected certainty and altars it to show off underlying surrealism. Using collage techniques, Anna likes to defy people’s expectations and speak about topics related to originality, change, sublime vs. the absurd, self-perception, and how many parts make up a whole."
